Ki-tae wonders if he should start proposing now that the bet results are in, but Jang-mi stops him again. She wants a fancy proposal, but Ki-tae argues that he prefers the simple everyday conversations like her dad’s letters. Jang-mi says she worries that he’s only proposing since her mom is sick and he wants to take care of her.

Lastly, for those who may miss watching Yeon Woo Jin Last night I watched episode 1 of Kara’s Secret Love, Missing You. The one thing I truly appreciate about the show is how it works so well to build up relationships so realistically, whether it is between a mother and son, mother and daughter-in-law, husband and wife etc. . This was also a great consolation after being disappointed so much with Doctor Stranger (not that they have any relation). Good directing, writing, and most of all, good actors. This drama did not have any pretensions at being life-like, or having any deep meaning.

At the same time, Ki-tae lies alone in bed, thinking about Se-ah’s question of why he loves his home and remembering being a child, happy and safe in this same bed. Hoon-dong texts Jang-mi repeatedly, getting no response, and perks up when he sees her riding up to his restaurant. He plays it cool, but frowns when she only asks after Yeo-reum.

There’s no more hiding now that everyone knows the engagement was a sham – but rather than putting the issue to rest, the revelation only kicks off more hurt and misunderstandings than it solves. The fallout is so much worse than Jang-mi and Ki-tae feared, and they don’t even have each other to lean on this time. Looks like some more teamwork may be required to patch up their broken families, and more importantly, their own hearts.

When they start to realize that their way isn’t working for them anymore and learn to meet in the middle, they’re going to make a great team. In the closed restaurant kitchen, Yeo-reum cooks up some pasta for Jang-mi, who does her best to kill an entire bottle of wine by herself. He asks if it was hard today at Ki-tae’s house, wondering if she really wants to get married that badly. She drunkenly admits that she was there just to create a scene, but moans that it became real.

They commiserate over how hard it is to be around women who have to talk everything out, while men just get each other without speaking. Hilariously though, Ki-tae does say he likes how it’s easy to just say a few words to a woman and everything is fine. Outside, Ki-tae hugs Jang-mi and tells her to go see her mom, and he’ll stay with Dad. She says sadly that their bet is over since her parents will never see eye-to-eye, but Ki-tae still has hope.

She finds him in the kitchen, but he’s more interested in watching the chef prepare a special dish than in talking with her. Jang-mi’s perplexed as he distractedly says he’ll call her later, wondering what happened to the Prince Charming from the night before. Later, Jang-mi lies in bed in full swoon-mode, only she’s not swooning over Ki-tae…she’s remembering Yeo-reum gallantly returning her lost shoe the night before, like Cinderella’s prince.
